My thoughts to Windows code leak

Hi, recently the code of Windows XP and consorts was leaked and also uploaded to Mega.nz. I do not want to distribute links here, but what I am interested in is the question: "What's next?"

First of all I want to say what I think about it. Yeah, it's not great, maybe Microsoft is mega pissed, but Microsoft itself has a lot of other codes and stuff like Azure, Office etc... So I think they won't go broke now, especially since Azure is the strongest competitor to Amazon AWS. Another reason why I think it won't be that bad for Microsoft is that they wanted to make Windows 10 open source anyway. I think there will still be parts of the predecessors in there. A big but at this point, since the code has been leaked, is the question, how does this look in the future with security holes and exploits? Because, if you think about it further, it quickly becomes clear that cyber criminals can also view the code and thus, quickly develop exploits, which are sold and endanger the security of some systems very strongly. Okay, Microsoft will have a lot of work to do here. So patch, patch, patch.

I briefly interject with the question, is this really the code? Couldn't it even be fake? It could be that the code is real, but it could also be that someone is having a joke. I suspect that it could be the real code.

Now the question is also, how could it go further? I mean Windows XP and consorts were leaked and uploaded to Mega in a 43GB ZIP file. What if it might even make sense that it happened the way it did. What if Windows is now being developed by open source developers? Could this not be a way to create a Windows that has a very high compatibility and even goes in the direction of Linux also from the ecosystem? That can be several different desktop environments. Own repositories where the updates are loaded, more security because the code is open source and everyone who is interested can search for gaps and close them with a commit. Would definitely be a cool story, well you can be curious ...
